Leclerc was commanding in Australian where he won from Red Bull's Perez with a 20.5 second advantage
Montezemolo was all praises for Charles Leclerc as well. "Charles Leclerc was able to demonstrate that he is a top-level driver. The season is long, and the opponents will not sleep, but Ferrari could not have asked for a better start to the 2022 F1 season. Let's continue like this," he added.
Montezemolo was the man who brought Michael Schumacher to Ferrari and created the dream team which had people like current F1 managing director Ross Brawn, former FIA boss Jean Todt, Rory Byrne who to date consults with the team, and even the current Ferrari F1 boss Mattia Binotto's tenure started under him.
Montezemolo was pushed out of Ferrari after a board room battle with former FCA chairman Sergio Marchionne. One of the last things Montezemolo did was to hire Sebastian Vettel in late 2014 before he was ousted.
