Essential Aspects Related to Car Servicing

Car servicing is mandatory – as simple as that. However, there are certain periods after which servicing should be done without delay. Without proper servicing, the car starts to experience several problems leading to an unpleasant driving experience. If ignored for a long time, these problems turn out to be a costly affair for the owner. It is thus important to have full knowledge about the time intervals, what car servicing entails, and the benefits of service.

How often should the car be serviced?
In most cases, car manufacturers suggest that the car be serviced every 10,000 km or 12 months (whichever gets completed before). In some cases, the distance can be 20,000 km, but that purely depends on the car's geographic location and model. But the consensus from car experts is to have the car checked at every 5000 km. But, of course, the period depends a lot on the driving style and the car's build.
It is essential that the customer thoroughly reads the handbook supplied with the car and gets the car serviced regularly.

What happens in car servicing?
Here is a list of operations that are performed during servicing of a car: -
- Changing Engine oil/filter
- Checking brakes, steering, exhaust, tires, and lights
- Tuning up the engine
- Checking coolant and other fluid levels
- Checking the cooling system (all parts)
- Alignment of the wheels
- Checking the car's battery

Why is servicing important?
There are several reasons as to why a customer should have the car serviced regularly:
- Servicing increases the lifespan of the car. The better and more regular the servicing, the longer the lifespan of individual components will be.
- Servicing makes the car perform better. This is pretty obvious – regular servicing ensures that the individual parts stay in prime condition and function at consistent levels.
- Servicing helps recognize major problems. Regular servicing ensures that the issues can be detected before it's too late, and this saves a lot of money and energy for the customer.
- Servicing saves money. Like we saw before when the problems are recognized easily, the whole experience can be cheaper for the customer.
- Servicing improves fuel efficiency. Servicing ensures that the fuel filled inside the engine provides the proper ignition and power to the car.
- Servicing increases resale value. After various years of use, the customer might want to sell the car. A car without proper maintenance has reduced value. Proper servicing increases the overall value of the car!
- Servicing is important for the environment. Problems like black smoke from exhausts cause a lot of harm to the environment. Servicing ensures that the filters are clean and working properly to reduce emissions.
Regular servicing of the car is extremely important to enhance its life and ensure a comfortable driving experience for extended periods.
