That Valentino Rossi's MotoGP career is the stuff of legends is a given. And to celebrate his 26 years of simply dominating the world championship, Yamaha gifted the legendary racer the special R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute race bike that was revealed at the ongoing 2021 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Italy at the 'One More Lap' event. The nine-time world champion took centre stage at the event amidst a roaring crowd. The Yamaha R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute is a one-of-a-kind offering and features a host of track-day goodies and a paint scheme inspired by the nine-time world champion. Several components have been taken from the manufacturer's WSBK programme. Yamaha gifted it to Rossi to celebrate his exceptional MotoGP career.

So what makes the R1 GYTR VR46 so special? For starters, it gets the 2022 GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) spec parts that are a direct result of Yamaha WorldSBK development. The bike gets a new carbon fibre fairing kit and full carbon rear subframe to keep the weight at minimal, while the fuel tank capacity has gone up to 22 litres. The GYTR R1 also gets special Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension, and REX 140 Marelli ECU for enhanced power delivery.

Other components include the GYTR developed Marchesini wheel-set, Akrapovic exhaust, front brake protector, handlebar set, air funnel set, head gasket, slipper clutch, electronic throttle and lots more. The Yamaha R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute's special livery was designed and produced by Aldo Drudi, of Drudi Performance. He is Rossi's long-time helmet designer and friend.

Valentino Rossi hung his riding boots at the end of this season drawing the curtains on an illustrious career. One of the most successful riders of all time in MotoGP, Rossi won the world title in 125 cc, 250 cc and MotoGP classes with 115 wins, 235 podiums and 425 race starts. Out of the 115 wins, 89 of them have been in the premier class. While Rossi won't be racing on the MotoGP grid anymore, the rider's the VR46 team with Ducati is all set to debut next year.
