The 2016 EICMA Motorcycle Show continues to bring more surprises to the world and this time it is Indian two wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp that has showcased the new 'Dawn 125' commuter bike at annual show in Milan. The Dawn 125 made its way to the pavilion amidst other of Hero's existing and upcoming two wheelers.

The Hero Dawn 125 has been specifically developed for the Africa region. The motorcycle is targeted mainly at the commercial segment and the company says the bike focuses on utility needs of strength, durability and fuel efficiency.

Power comes from the 125cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, OHC engine tuned to produce 9bhp at 7000rpm and 10.35 of maximum torque at 4000rpm. Hero says The styling is simplistic and rugged, but gets appreciable elements like the big round headlamp, long and wide seat, thick rear carrier, black alloy wheels and a slender silencer.

The metallic front fender offers improved strength, while the extended footrests make for but grip. The telescopic forks also seem to get longer travel suspension for improved ride quality. Hero says that the Dawn 125 gets superior fuel efficient tech on board for higher savings per ride.

Interestingly, the Hero Dawn 125 isn't the only motorcycle to be exported to Africa. Bajaj Auto is also an Indian manufacturer that exports the Boxer 150 to Africa for similar commercial applications. That said, the move clearly shows the kind of potential the African continent has to offer, with respect to small capacity and rugged motorcycles.

The Hero Dawn 125 is available at dealerships across all major African markets including, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Mozambique among others.
