All-Wheel Drive
All-wheel drive (AWD) is a system in which all four wheels can generate traction independently of one another. AWD is achieved by installing three differentials, or gearboxes, in various parts of the vehicle. The three gearboxes are located in the front, centre, and rear parts of the vehicle, and these differentials allow your four tyres to get traction independently of one another, resulting in greater traction and handling in all kinds of weather.
Four Wheel Drive
Four-wheel drive (4WD) is a system in which the power is transmitted to the rear wheels, which implies that the rear wheels of a car propel the vehicle forward while the front wheels operate or spin freely. The 4WD is often seen on trucks and is designed for heavy-duty hauling and other work-related activities.
Which is Better?
When travelling over difficult terrains or severe surface conditions, such as flooding or swampy terrains, a 4WD system can offer the driver additional traction and control.
When it comes to typical driving conditions, on the other hand, AWD is always the preferred mode of operation.
However, it is vital to note that the same benefit that 4WD provides a vehicle for challenging, difficult terrain is precisely what is undervalued on typical terrain.
