Citroen Reveals New Cxperience Plug-In Hybrid Concept
Highlights
- The Citroen Cxperience Concept is a 300bhp plug-in hybrid
- Its electric motor alone offers a range of 60 km
- The concept will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show
The Citroen Cxperience represents a fully loaded futuristic and spectacular car that holds plug-in hybrid hardware beneath the skin. The car has the appearance of a massive sedan with its bold lines and futuristic design that are further accentuated by the large and sporty 22-inch alloy wheels. The Cxperience Concept measures 4850 mm in length along with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The concept model comes with Rolls-Royce-style rear-hinged door that provides easy access to the compact yet space-age cabin.
The four-seater cabin looks like it can offer the best of luxury to its incumbents. The designers at Citroen have used some generous amount of wood in crafting the cabin that can be seen from the dashboard, door panels and seats as well. There is also an abundance of bright yellow in the form of the interior panels and upholstery. The plug-in concept uses comfortable bucket style seats that will make feel like you are sitting in them rather on them.
Further, the dashboard features a huge 19-inch rectangular display described as being the car's 'control centre.' It provides the driver access to basically all of the concept's functions and has several split screen modes to allow the front passenger play around with the onboard functions as well.
As mentioned before, the new Citroen Cxperience uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain which comes with an undisclosed petrol engine that is paired with an electric motor. While the petrol engine is capable of generating 150bhp to 200bhp, the electric motor offers an additional 107bhp that brings the cars combined power output to about 300bhp. It comes mated to a transversally mounted 8-speed automatic gearbox that sits between the conventional engine and electric motor. The car can be driven solely on electric power for as much as 60 Km and the battery can be recharged from a conventional socket in only four and a half hours.
What remains to see is that whether this will go into production or remain a concept car like the Citroen GT.
