Maruti Suzuki, India's biggest four-wheeler manufacturer ended 2017 on a high with a growth of 10.3 per cent in December 2017. The company sold a total of 1,20,066 units in December 2017 out of which, 1,19,286 units were sold domestically and 10,780 units were exported. In comparison, the company had sold 1, 06,414 units domestically in December 2016 and exported 11,494 units, which made a total of 1, 17,908 units sold in total. The domestic sales in December 2017 grew by 12.1 per cent over sales in December 2016.

If we were to break the sales up segment-wise, the mini segment which includes Alto and WagonR saw sales of 32,146 units in December 2017, which is a growth of 2 per cent over the sales of the Alto and WagonR in December 2016. Similarly, the compact segment which includes cars such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire sold a total of 53,336 units, showing a growth of 23.2 per cent over sales in December 2016. The sales of utility vehicles which include Gypsy, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross were 19,276 units in December 2017, showing a growth of almost 20 per cent.

The sales of Maruti Ciaz in particular fell by 35.8 per cent. In December 2016, Maruti sold 3,711 units and the same figure in December 2017 was 2,382 units. The exports of the company too fell by 6.2 per cent in December 2017 when it exported 10,780 units as compared to 11,494 units exported in December 2016.

Lastly, Maruti Suzuki sold 26 units of the Super Carry in December 2016 and 726 units in December 2017, which is a growth of 2,692 per cent (This is not a typo).
