Buell Motorcycles is set to roll out the brand's new model, the 2022 Buell Hammerhead 1190RX. The latest news marks the re-birth of the storied American motorcycle brand yet again. The Buell name has been quiet since 2009, when the company was closed by then owners Harley-Davidson. After the business was closed, Buell founder Erik Buell set up Erik Buell Racing (EBR), which also had an India connection, with Hero MotoCorp acquiring 49 per cent stake in EBR in 2013. Liquid Asset Partners (LAP) bought EBR in 2016, and also acquired the Buell name from Harley-Davidson, and now promises to launch 10 new models by 2024.

The Buell Hammerhead 1190RX sportbike will be one of the 10 new models the company intends to launch, till 2024. The other models include a naked sport bike, followed by a Super Tourer.

"We are excited to bring Buell back with this awesome assortment of superbikes and performance motorcycles. We start with the fastest American production motorcycles, hand-built in the USA, so that's a nice start. We're building out those platforms for more touring and adventure models, then we're expanding our displacements to be competitive with other global brands. We have already launched a dirt bike with Cipala Racing that won an AMA Championship, and Buell will be dominating at (the National Hot Rod Association) this year. The future will be fast and fun on a Buell," says Bill Melvin, the owner and CEO of Buell.

The Buell Hammerhead is based on the EBR 1190RS, formerly launched by EBR, and features a revised 1190 cc Rotax Helicon v-twin engine, with maximum power of 182 bhp at 10,600 rpm and peak torque of 138 Nm at 8,200 rpm. And the Hammerhead features top-spec components, including fully adjustable Showa upside down Big Piston Forks up front and a fully adjustable, direct-mounted single Showa monoshock at the rear. The Hammerhead 1190RX will be just the first of the bikes under the revived Buell brand. It will be followed by a 1190SX shortly after, followed by a Super Tourer based on the same platform in 2023. Looks like Buell is back, yet again, and we can't wait to see how the story pans out this time around!
