Take a look:

  • Mercedes, Mon Amour- This 1992 classic from Turkey is hilarious yet touching, a story of a villager going to Germany for work, and saving up money to buy his precious yellow coloured Mercedes Benz car. He tries to drive it back to his native village, while encountering several hurdles along the route. This satirical tale is certainly one of the best car movies ever created!
  • Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry- This 1974 movie has Adam Roarke and Peter Fonda playing two racers/artists who attack and rob a supermarket but end up being stuck with NASCAR behind-the-scenes groupie, with whom the character played by Fonda had a fling on the earlier night. Speeding away from the police in a 1968 Chevrolet Impala, and then a Dodge Challenger, the three escapists have their own share of struggles. The movie certainly deserves to be called a car classic!
  • Gone in 60 Seconds- The movie from 1974 by H.B. Halicki is one of the most unique movies ever. It shows several stunts and cars amidst a compelling story of thieves robbing these vehicles. The remake is better with Jerry Bruckheimer producing the heist movie in a new avatar and Nicholas Cage playing a thief who has to rob 50 cars in only 96 minutes.
  • Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby- The 2006 movie stars Will Ferrell and this is a treat for fans, particularly for the characters and splendid dialogues and sequences. The car line-up is spectacular to say the least!
  • Autostop- A movie from 1991, this one was directed by Nikita Mikhalkov from Russia. He was initially commissioned to create a smaller promotional movie for the Fiat brand, but created this short feature film instead about an Italian champion racer who is driving a vehicle into Russia. The man has no family and is basically lonely, and starts meditating on his surroundings. It certainly deserves a place in this list!
