Auto Sales August 2022: Kia Reports Flat Month-On-Month Sales Growth

Kia reported sales of 22,322 units in the domestic market for the month of August, up by 300 units over July 2022. Year-on-year the carmaker reported a growth of 33.27% with the company retaining a spot among the five best-selling brands in the country. The company also reported a 29% growth in sales in the calendar year over the same period last year.
Commenting on the performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing, Kia India said, "We have been observing upward sales momentum since the beginning of this year, and it is a good sign for the Indian automotive market. Comparing the quarters, our monthly average so far for Q3 of 2022 stands at 7.8% over Q2 and 10.9% over Q1 of this year, indicating gradual improvement in supply chain constraints and healthy consumer sentiment. With the demand and supply curve staying positive, we are optimistic that an excellent festive season in terms of sales is ahead of us."

Sales of the Seltos have crossed the 3 lakh unit mark in India since its launch in 2019
Coming to the individual models, the Seltos has long been Kia’s best-selling model in India and continues to hold its position selling 8,652 units in the month. Following close behind the Seltos was the Sonet subcompact SUV with 7,838 units. The Carens stood third with 5,558 units dispatched while the premium Carnival MPV rounded out the list with 274 units sold.

Coming to exports, Kia India reported its best-ever number since it commenced exports from India with 8,100 units shipped in the month.
August also marks the company’s third anniversary in India with the company to date selling over 5.3 lakh vehicles in India. The Seltos, the company’s first model for India, crossed the 3-lakh unit sales mark in the domestic market in the last month.
