Auto Expo 2016: SsangYong Tivoli Unveiled in India

The SsangYong Tivoli measures 4195mm in length while the SUV is said to be the widest in class measuring 1795mm. The wheelbase measures a decent 2600mm. The Tivoli gets a boxy profile inspired from the XIV Adventure concept and is coupled with healthy dosage of curves which makes the model likeable. Despite the large proportions, the SUV looks compact and comes with LED DRLs, alloy wheels and LED tail lamps.
The cabin gets a choice of three interior colours including black, beige, and red, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Furthermore, the second row of seats can be folded down completely, making way for improved cargo space. In addition, you get features like semi-bucket seats, 3.5-inch touchscreen display and automatic climate control. The Smart Steer function allows you to control steering effort in 3 modes namely Normal, Comfort and Sport.

The SsangYong Tivoli is the automaker's first offering to use 70 percent of high tensile strength steel in its construction for light weight and high rigidity. Power comes from the newly developed 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options internationally with pushing out 124bhp and 157Nm of torque, whereas the diesel makes 113bhp and 300Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a single clutch automatic from AISIN in addition to a 6-speed manual. In terms of fuel efficiency, the SUV is also loaded on safety with seven airbags, ABS, ESP, Tyre Pressure Monitoring system (TPMS), LED DRLs and much more to offer. Mahindra will be introducing the new Tivoli later this year most likely during the festive season to take on the premium compact SUVs in the segment.
