The recent cases of electric two-wheelers catching fire have garnered national interest while questioning the safety of EVs at large

EVs catching fire has turned into a hotly debated topic with concerns over safety at large. Unlike a petrol vehicle, dowsing an EV fire is more difficult and can be more dangerous too. The cases related to the Ola S1 Pro, Okinawa iPraise and Pure EV particularly have caught the national interest in recent times.

With electric two-wheelers, the reason for EVs catching fire could be related to the battery pack's BMS, battery cells, overall quality, packaging, and more. There could also be fires due to a short circuit in the electrical system of the vehicle. With petrol-powered bikes, there's a possibility of fuel leakage starting a fire on a hot surface as one of the reasons. That said, all of this remains conjecture at this point until the actual reason has been revealed after investigation.
