2018 Detroit Auto Show: Volkswagen Passat GT Showcased

- The Passat GT will be a limited edition model
- It will have a 3.6-litre V6 engine making 282 bhp and 350 Nm
- It will hit the roads in US in the second quarter of 2018
Volkswagen showcased the Passat GT at the ongoing Detroit Auto Show. It was first showcased as ta concept at the LA Auto Show in 2016. The Passat GT was designed by the company's facility at Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Passat GT will be a limited edition model based on the R-Line trim of the regular Passat. Volkswagen will offer the Passat GT in USA in four colours which are pure white, reflex silver, platinum grey and deep black. The Passat GT gets LED headlamps, LED DRLs as standard and gets the same bumper as the Passat R-Line with a few changes such as a honeycomb grille, red accent line and a 'GT' badge.
(2018 Volkswagen Passat GT front)Apart from the front end, the Passat GT also get a sports suspension, blacked out roof, black mirror caps and window trims, red-painted brake callipers and 'Tornado' alloy wheels to accentuate the sporty look of the car. At the rear, the Passat GT gets a black spoiler with blacked out LED tail lamps, black inserts on the bumper and a dual exhaust setup with an acoustic package.
(2018 Volkswagen Passat GT interior)The Passat GT also gets a few upgrades to the interior such as piano black centre console, carbon fibre décor, aluminium GT badges on the sills, leather upholstery with contrast stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, two-zone climate control and heated rear-view mirrors. The Volkswagen Passat GT also gets a host of connectivity features which include a 6.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, voice control, smartphone integration such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

Coming to the engine, the Passat GT will be powered by a 3.6-litre V6 motor which churns out 282 bhp at 6,200 rpm and 350 Nm at 2,500 rpm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic gearbox and will have paddleshifters on the steering wheel. The estimated fuel efficiency when driving in the city is 8.08 kmpl and 11.9 kmpl on the highway. The 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT will hit the roads in the US in the second quarter of 2018.
