Each model has a different state of tune on the same engine with varying horsepower; the S makes 111 bhp, the R makes 116 bhp and the RS makes 121 bhp. In India, Triumph is expected to introduce the RS variant as well, by the end of the year.
The 2017 Street Triple is one of the most promising superbikes with a host of updates for the 2017 model. We e have already ridden the new Street Triple RS at the iconic Catalunya Circuit in Spain. The engine gets a lighter, freer flowing exhaust, revised air box, revised gearbox and new slipper clutch. The Street Triple S gets two riding modes - Road and Rain. Suspension is non-adjustable Showa 41 mm front fork with a preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by Nissin two-pot calipers at the front and a single piston Brembo at the back.
On the 2017 Triumph Street Triple RS, the naked gets the most sophisticated hardware on offer with 41 mm Showa front forks and Ohlins monoshock suspension at the rear. Braking performance on the RS comes from the Brembo-sourced 310 mm discs up front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. With respect to tech, the bike is equipped ride-by-wire, programmable riding modes, traction control, switchable ABS, and a full TFT digital instrument console. The new Street Triple also gets full LED headlamps with integrated DRLs.
The current version of the Triumph Street Triple retails at Rs. 7.91 lakh, and the new model is expected to start at around Rs. 10 - 10.5 lakh for the Street Triple S. The RS version is expected to be priced at a premium, somewhere around Rs. 12.5 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The Street Triple is one of Triumph's most popular models globally. The current generation version was first introduced in 2007 and has since sold over 50,000 units. In India, the Street Triple hasn't been as successful as Triumph's modern classic range, but still, the Street Triple enjoys a loyal fan following. Like the outgoing bike, the new Street will also be locally assembled in the country and will compete against the Ducati Monster 821 and the Kawasaki Z900.
