Husqvarna Bikes
Husqvarna Motorcycles GmbH, marketed as Husqvarna, is owned by the Austrian brand KTM AG, which itself is owned by KTM Industries AG and Indian manufacturer Bajaj Auto. KTM had acquired Swedish brand Husqvarna Motorcycles from its former owner BMW Motorrad in 2013. Globally, Husqvarna Motorcycles produces a wide range of motocross, enduro and supermoto motorcycles using their own two-stroke or four-stroke engines, ranging in capacity from 125 cc to 693 cc.
Husqvarna is a Swedish-origin motorcycle brand and is considered one of the world's oldest motorcycle manufacturers. The company has had a storied racing history and was a dominant force in the motocross and enduro world championships throughout the 1960s and 1970s. In the 1980s, Husqvarna was purchased by Italian motorcycle manufacturer Cagiva and became part of MV Agusta. Husqvarna's last owner was BMW Motorrad, from which Pierer Industrie purchased it in 2013. Husqvarna still makes enduro and motocross bikes with engines shared with the current KTM motocross bikes, but the India story and the new global strategy will be a little different.
Husqvarna India, however, will commence its operations in the country with newly developed Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401. Husqvarna will start the production of the Vitpilen 401, S vartpilen 401 at Bajaj Auto's Chakan factory. Bajaj plans to sell Husqvarna motorcycles at a similar level as KTM products in India and Indonesia.
