Verdict

An ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.33 lakh and the amount of features and technology that TVS has packed in to the Apache RTR 200 4V, it is very impressive to say the least. Excellent value for money! The new Apache 200 caters to the urban enthusiast who wants a bit of race-inspired technology in his or her bike and be able to ride it day in day out, and have fun at that. In our opinion, the bike continues to be the best sport-naked option in the segment.

Introduction

The highest apex of technological advancement and performance in racing is represented by the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. and is one of the newest models of Apache and is expected to take over the 2-wheeler market in India. The bike is perfectly suited for young adults with numerous features and a design style hardly matched by any other bike manufacturer. The RTR series of Apache has been very successful in the past and Apache RTR 200 4V plans to take the success forward and dominate the 200 cc 2-wheeler segment.

The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is absolutely outclassed by its rivals with adjustable brake and clutch levers thanks to the first-in-segment Ride Modes and a dazzling led Technology headlamp with DRL. This race machine has indeed led the way in the never-ending pursuit of perfection by TVS. The ECU, which now supports three riding modes (Rain, Urban, and Sport), is the next significant improvement in the series and makes for a comfortable and stylish ride everywhere you go.

The level of ABS involvement is also changed by the ride modes in RTR 200 4V. It should come as no surprise that the ABS is most required in Rain mode and least intrusive in Sport mode, with the Urban mode serving as a compromise between the two. The three riding modes provide different efficiencies. Riders can access all 20.8 horsepower at 9,000 revolutions per minute of the turbocharger in sport mode. While peak torque decreases from 17.25Nm at 7,250rpm - 16.51Nm at 5,750rpm in Rain and Urban mode. The estimates reveal that the bike takes about 4 seconds longer to reach 100 kph in the lowest power modes. In the city, it offers an additional 2 KMPL of fuel efficiency. Thins make the bike highly versatile in all road conditions and is fully controlled by the rider.

The rear suspension uses Mono Tube - Mono Shock along with an adjustable clutch and brake adjustable with 3 step position. Moreover, the ergonomic design of the bike naturally gives the rider the perfect seating posture. Compared to the Previous models of RTR 200 the 4V is 1 KG lighter with a great centre of balance providing both comfort and manoeuvrability on congested Indian roads.  The TVS Apache RTR 200 4v motor has a 19.9 bhp power rating and a 16.8 Nm torque rating owing to its 200cc single-cylinder engine and 5-Speed transmission remain powerful as always making for a great riding experience.

The riding comfort of the RTR 200 is one of the best in the RTR series but the seat design has gained some criticism due to its short area for the pillion.  The seats are split providing greater comfort for the rider but makes the pillion seating arrangement a bit uncomfortable, though it takes the route of other sports bikes with a seating design similar to KTM. The trademark Mono suspension technology used by TVS has been implemented in the RTR 200 4V as well and delivers a comfortable ride in any type of terrain.

The Apache RTR 200 4V uses a fuel intake system that both reduces fuel consumption and increases engine output. TVS has adopted the TVSM proprietary Oil-Cooled Combustion Chamber (O3C) Technology with Ram-Air Assist, which dramatically lowers the engine's heat map by 10°C while maintaining unparalleled endurance. The Odometer, Speedometer, and Fuel Gauge are all easily viewed on the Display's huge digital screen, which is totally digital. The lights are all LEDs and give a cool sport look to the front and rear.

According to TVS Apache RTR 200 4V owners, the Apache RTR 200 4V features a 1 cylinder, 197.75 CC Engine, SI, and 4 stroke engines assisted by fuel injection technology. The bike's real mileage is 38 KMPL, but on better roads, it has the potential to give over 40 KMPL. Although it is not the highest in its segment, its fuel consumption is comparable to other 200cc 2-wheelers by other manufacturers.

The Ex-showroom price of Rs 1.39 lakh, and may go up to Rs 1.45 lakh and is on the higher price segment in the 200 cc Segment. The same performance output can be gained by other bikes in the same market segment like Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 or the Hero Xtreme 200 S. The value of the RTR 200 4V can be justified due to its inclusion of high-tech technology in the engine and ride performance but it serves as a luxury bike and not for daily commutes due to its comparative low mileage output.

The post-sales service has always been good as TVS has numerous service centres all across India and can be accessed easily no matter where you live in India. Some dealerships provide free service for the first 3 services and the additional ones are chargeable but at low cost.

Apache RTR 200 4V competes in the most saturated market segment of 2-wheelers and is competing with bikes such as the Hero Xtreme 200 S, Yamaha FZ25, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and Honda Hornet 2.0. Among these Apache RTR 200 4V has the highest price which makes it lose a few points in the market but has introduced new cutting-age features not being offered by the competitors.

The RTR 200 is a wonderful bike with incredible engine output, but it lacks comfort due to the high back seat, making it unsuitable for families. Nevertheless, its performance is excellent, with a 0-60 time of just 4 seconds. Furthermore, because it is a sport tourer, going on long travels is not a problem, and it provides for a comfortable ride. However, the pillion sitting section is not very comfortable for lengthy trips. It is ideal for young adults who want to make a presence on the road. If that is what you want there is no other bike in the segment that will meet your needs like the Apache RTR 200 4V.
