You can customise almost everything on the car to a large extent as a buyer, and in fact can go as high as double the price of the stock car in customisations and additions! But at the heart of it the Phantom is truly an exceptional car - because there is none other like it. It does not have rivals in the car world - rather yachts and villas perhaps are its buyer's other distractions
Rolls Royce Phantom
The Rolls Royce Phantom’s VIII carries forward the same legacy of being possibly the finest car in the whole world. The car is regal and can be hand-crafted in all possible ways to meet the requirements of a select few of the global elite. The Rolls Royce Phantom was and still is the ultimate benchmark of luxury.
The Rolls Royce Phantom harnesses the same majestic and royal looks as before. It has several contemporary elements with the signature Parthenon nose grille, and this has been slightly repositioned now. The new position will help in the deflection of airflow above the car’s body. The jaw is squarer for the Phantom with a front angular fender and a body surface that looks neater now. There is a central crease going till the bonnet with smoother shoulder lines. There are wide and sleek headlamps with the LED strip and laser-high beams. The styling remains almost similar to the earlier version although the body panels are completely new this time around. The road presence and look remain elegant, powerful, and imposing.
The interiors are the ultimate in luxury and sophistication as a Rolls Royce is expected to offer. There are signature rear doors or coach doors that offer expansive cabin entry. The electrically operated doors are the tipping point of a cabin that is meant for sheer extravagance while riding. The doors may be shut by the chauffeur and passenger with a button. The cabin completely insulates everyone from the world. This is a Masterclass in the finest detailing from the special carpets and leather trim to the fine-grain wood treatment and the soft seats with leather. There are feather-filled headrests along with unmatched comfort and legroom. The extended version is a veritable limousine. The rear seats have a lovely seating position with great reclining functions, cooling, heating, and massage functions. The rotary for the rear armrest’s central console contains all the functions for the audio, air conditioning and seats. There are individual screens for entertainment with the flick of a button and a small picnic table as well. There is a cooling box with champagne flutes. The front seats are also supremely comfortable with several adjustment features. The front doors can be closed electronically while the steering wheel is huge and adorned with several buttons. There is also a digital instrument console along with a driver’s heads-up display. The starlight roof is the signature feature of the Phantom, and this means 1,344 fibre optic lights creating an entire galaxy with individual controls for each one of them. The Gallery is a fantastic piece in the cabin, enabling owners to personalize their vehicles to make them artworks in their own right. The Gallery is a fixed glass piece on the dashboard extending from behind the screen (retractable) and may showcase artworks of the owners or those that they may commission from several unique creations done by Rolls Royce already.
The Rolls Royce Phantom comes with a plethora of technology features including the HUD for the driver, digital instrument cluster, the Starlight roof with individual lighting controls, heating/cooling/massaging seats, individual rear screen entertainment and electrically operated doors, a picnic table, and a lot more. There is also the Gallery which may be personalized with artwork. There is also adaptive cruise control with pedestrian and collision warnings along with a host of other features. There is also the HD 10.25-inch infotainment unit with intricate cameras all around, including a thermal imaging night vision camera. There are umbrellas tucked into the doors with warm air for them as well. There is also a powered footrest with a Wi-Fi hotspot. Passengers also get a tucked-in cool box with champagne flutes.
The Rolls Royce Phantom performs spectacularly with its 6749 cc engine that dishes out 563 BHP and 900 Nm. It can touch top speeds of 250 kmph with ease, using its powerful V12 engine. The engine now comes with twin-turbochargers that ensure jaw-dropping torque outputs. The Phantom offers a plush and elegant driving experience. This is not a car that you will unnecessarily rush and heave into corners. You should drive in a relaxed manner, with the powerful engine doing the job for you. It can touch 100 kmph in only 5.1 seconds, giving an idea of its sheer power. The transmission and engine work in an ultra-smooth manner while the steering and tyres are also top-notch.
The Rolls Royce Phantom drives and handles very well when we look at how much it really weighs and how soft the suspension setup is. The ride quality and overall refinement are truly on a whole different level. The air suspension is the specialty, making for that magic carpet experience, and ensuring the ultimate riding luxury. There are cameras which keep reading road surfaces and adjusting suspension stiffness likewise. The tyres are chunky 22-inchers which have softer sidewalls. This makes low-speed rides even more plush and comfortable. There are electronic stabilizers for the Phantom with a sound-deadening foam layer for the tyres to keep noise away permanently. There is double-glazed glass with 130 kg of sound-muffling material in the cabin. The Phantom is the most-silent car across the world. It also has four-wheel steering and the rear wheels steer to the opposite end, making the manoeuvring experience effortless for drivers. The turning circle diameter is also top-notch for a massive car. The Phantom glides ahead like the king of the road, and everything feels effortless.
Approximate mileage figures could be 7.1 kmpl.
The Rolls Royce Phantom is packed with safety features including eight airbags, forward collision and pedestrian collision alerts, high-beam assist, automatic emergency braking, child locks, child seat anchorages, seat belt warnings, over-speed warnings, anti-theft engine immobilizer, speed-sensing door locks, lane departure warning, and a lot more. It also has a vast system of cameras and thermal imaging night vision cameras.
The Rolls Royce Phantom is a full package in itself with multiple customization and personalization options for owners.
The Rolls Royce does not have any competitors at this price point in its category. It is the sole dominating vehicle in this category. Period.
The Rolls Royce Phantom costs more than an ultra-luxury apartment. It offers everything one could possibly imagine and then some more. It has the ultimate personalization, ride, tech, handling, and safety features. It is truly representative of unbridled luxury, comfort, and refinement. Buying one of the best cars in the world is not for everyone, but then it was only meant for a select few to start with.

Great in the US, nightmare in India
By Anshul Raghuwanshi @ Dec 29, 2019 01:07 AM

The Rolls Royce Phantom is just $450,000 (INR 3.5 Cr) in the US, but in India the base starts around 11Cr, which is more then 3 times its actual cost. Just think of why would you buy something for 3 times it’s value which depreciates insanely fast when it’s just off the lot. Please do not invest in depreciating assets, especially super luxury cars in India. It is actually a liability more then an asset. If you are one of the top one percent, go for it but again, where are you going to enjoy the drive?
