Drinking and driving has never been an acceptable practice, and I am glad that it is among one of the few social causes that India seems to pay attention to. I say 'pay attention' because, surprisingly, we still don't heed to the many many tales of caution and affliction. It is beyond me, that despite the efforts, we are yet to convince people of the agony the act of drinking and driving can lead to. We persist nonetheless, and the latest effort for the cause is a short film by Pankaj Thakur.

Titled 'My Husband made me a Prostitute', the movie is a fictional account of a woman who resorted to prostitution to survive after her husband's near-fatal accident left him in a coma. The woman recounts the struggles of her daily life, a life her husband hadn't planned for them and yet it was the one she had to live through. The movie ends with the message 'You aren't the only one who pays the price... Don't drink and drive'.

The message is as simple as it gets; when one decides to dismiss the perils of driving a vehicle after consumption of alcohol, they decidedly not only endanger their own lives but also of several other people who may or may not be directly involved. If for nothing else, don't drink and drive for the sake of the people you love.
