The Nissan Sway Concept Paves the Way for the Next-Gen Micra
Highlights
Nissan has released a teaser image for the Sway concept set to debut a week from today at the Geneva Motor Show. What you are looking at is the next generation of the Micra. Currently, he company exports Micras from India via the plant in Chennai, but that's going to stop soon.
The company announced that this new generation of the Micra, which will be based on the Sway concept, will be built at its Flins factory in France. This means the new model will likely be derived from the Renault Clio 4, following Renault-Nissan Alliance logic.
With the Sway Concept, Nissan gives us a preview of what's about to come. The front end of the car is extremely bold and LED daytime running lights and some deeply contoured front wings, give it a stance which cannot be compared to anything we've seen from Nissan to date.
The company said, "Innovative design and product planning gave birth to Nissan Qashqai and Juke, two of the biggest automotive success stories of recent years. What would happen if the company applied the same radical thinking and quality standards to one of the most important sectors in Europe: the small hatchback?"
Well, this is the new design language and though we know that the new Micra won't look as dramatic as the concept, styling cues will be somewhat adopted. For the model to come to India, it will take some time but we're tracking the progress so stay tuned for the latest updates.
