Scoop: Datsun GO+ MPV Spied Testing
Highlights
Buoyed by the success of the GO hatchback, Nissan's low cost car brand Datsun is now all set to bring in the GO based MPV to India. The vehicle is already on test, and our avid reader Manoj Prabakaran has spotted the MPV in Chennai, near Koyambedu bus stand today.
Expected to be launched in the second half of this year, the MPV will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and others. And like we informed our readers in a recent report, Datsun GO+ might undercut the Ertiga in terms of pricing, because of the excise duty benefit given to the car sizing below 4-metre. As per government norms, cars sizing below 4 metre and diesel engine equal or below 1.5-litre capacity get rebate on excise duty. In the case of the Maruti Ertiga, the size of the vehicle is over 4 metre.
If we look at the front and rear design of the GO+ MPV, it looks largely similar to the GO hatchback. In fact the side profile too looks identical till the C Pillar, though the MPV gets extra space or the third row. The overall length of the MPV is 3995mm, while the hatchback is 3785mm.
Built on the GO platform, the GO+ MPV will also share the 1.2-litre petrol engine with the hatchback. The diesel model of the MPV might use the Nissan Sunny's 1.5-litre K9K unit.
