Piaggio Vespa S - 2015 CNB Viewers' Choice Award Nominee
Highlights
We all know what a Vespa is all about. If you don't, well it's time to watch Roman Holiday and with that see Gregory Peck take a tour around Rome with this retro bike. Even though it's been decades now, the look really hasn't gone out of fashion and the Vespa S harkens to that retro image which still shouts youth.
The Vespa S gets the classic rectangular headlamp (which we've seen on bikes from the 1970's) while the instrument cluster comprises an analogue speedometer, fuel-gauge and digital-clock, apart from other warning lights and not to forget the white piping on the saddle of the bike.
The mechanicals have been taken straight from the other Vespas and there is no change in that department. The Vespa S receives the four-stroke, 125cc, single-cylinder and air cooled engine which churns out 10.06bhp @ 7500rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission system which makes for a better ride.
A Vespa-signature monocoque steel chassis, single-side hydraulic front shock absorber and rear monoshock are seen on this new scooter. Though sold at a premium price, Piaggio thinks that it will be able to garner interest from the youth, who will be able to associate with a product that is classy and yet beautiful to look at.
