Mitsubishi has issued a recall for certain 2013 Outlander Sport crossovers, citing concerns over airbag warning.
The company said in a statement that some of the recalled vehicles were wired incorrectly when leather seat covers were installed, allowing the seat height adjustment to damage the cables. Drivers can expect to see a warning light if the wiring is severed, however the driver side seat-mounted airbag may not deploy until it is fixed.
Vehicles with the potential defect are said to have been manufactured between late July, 2012, through May, 2013. Mitsubishi promises to inspect the vehicles and re-route or replace the wiring as needed. Mitsubishi had recalled the Outlander SUV way back in July 2013 for multiple issues like defects in steering, braking and signals and now with Mitsubishi has a lot of problems to sort out.
Mitsubishi has said that there have been no serious injuries or deaths associated with this problem in the Outlander Sports crossover and the recall is part of a preventive measure
