Mercedes-Benz to Recall 2015 C-Class Sedan

The Stuttgart-based luxury car maker is recalling 10,500 units of the C-Class sedan in the US because the steering wheels - how do I put this in a way that is easy to comprehend and yet doesn't sound absolutely ridiculous - don't do what they are meant to do, i.e. turn.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which has received critical acclaim from across the globe, might be in trouble. Well, kind of, at least in the United States. International reports claim that the Stuttgart-based luxury car maker is recalling 10,500 units of the C-Class sedan in the US because the steering wheels - how do I put this in a way that is easy to comprehend and yet doesn't sound absolutely ridiculous - don't do what they are meant to do, i.e. turn.

Mercedes says it is a production fault with the steering coupling interlock - that's a rather fancy way of saying "we screwed up!". The company accepts the issue was first reported on a pair of European models, when the interlock was found to be not 'in the correct locked position'.

That was for the European models; Merc doesn't believe the US models suffer the same affliction, but will recall the 10,500 units as a measure of 'caution'. The company is said to have notified the concerned authorities and is in the process of notifying customers.
