Mercedes-Benz India to launch GL63 AMG on April 15th

    After launching three AMG models - G63, E63 and SLK 55 in 2013, the German automajor Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch the AMG model of the GL SUV in India. The car will be launched on April 15th.

    What differentiates the GL63 AMG from its regular GL sibling is the powertrain the former features. Housing a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 mill, the car is claimed to accelerate to 100kmph from rest in just 4.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top-speed of 250kmph. This engine churns out a massive 557bhp and 760Nm of peak torque.

    The GL63 AMG's V8 mill features a high-tech power package comprising of spray-guided direct petrol injection, piezo injectors, biturbo charging, air/water intercooling, all-aluminium crankcase, a four-valve-per-cylinder design with variable camshaft adjustment, plus alternator management and the ECO start/stop system.

    In terms of design, what separates the GL63 AMG from the GL are the add-ons like 21-inch alloy wheels, chromed AMG quad-tailpipes and AMG badges on the outside, and the AMG steering wheel and sporty seats inside the cabin. Other than the aforementioned features, the GL63 will also feature Active Curve Control as a standard feature.
