Mercedes-Benz India has been doing things in a bit of a peculiar way. The year 2013 was 'officially' termed as the "Year of Offensive" and 2014 is ha gained the status of being the "Year of Excellence". At the Delhi Auto Expo this year, the German car manufacturer announced its plans to bring more cars, especially AMG's to India and they are living upto it. We saw the G63 AMG, E63 AMG, SLK55 AMG, GL63 AMG and now the company has launched the ML63 AMG. The ML63 AMG is priced at 1.49 crores (ex-showroom Delhi)

Though a performance SUV is not something that Indian roads need, but the ML has always served the purpose of a nippy and well balanced car. The event also marked the inauguration of the AMG Performance Centre in Delhi - the first-ever in India.

The ML gets the full AMG treatment, so there are the huge front air intakes, a quad-exhaust setup and the AMG badging throughout the car. Of course, there is a hike in power as well and the 5.5-litre V8 will punch out a massive 525bhp and 700Nm torques.

While the international spec of the ML63 AMG produces 557bhp, Mercedes will give the Indian crowd an option to boost power to reach that figure by offering a performance package. The engine comes mated to the AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. This means that 0-100 km/h is dealt with in just 4.8 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250km/h.

For Mercedes-Benz, it is all about enhancing their product portfolio, but for AMG, which has been around for 47 years now, it is all about performance and following the One Man One Engine philosophy. Having sold close to 32000 AMG models globally, Mercedes-Benz is opening up new avenues by launching performance variants in India.
