Mahindra Racing today announced former F1 drivers Karun Chandhok and Bruno Senna will represent the team and pilot the Formula E car at the FIA Formula E Championship. Having announced its entry into the sport 6 months ago, Mahindra had revealed the car at the Delhi Auto Expo.

Having announced the drivers, the company is all set to take to the track soon. The Formula E Championship is the first fully electric championship and the season kick starts from September this year with the first race in Beijing.

Both Chandhok and Senna have been team mates earlier as well at the GP2 level and both infact made their debut with HRT at the F1 level. This is theiur third outing together and as Karun put it, 'the bromance continues'

The car that they will be driving is powered by an electric traction motor which is good enough for 270bhp and in power-saving mode will punch out 180bhp. 0-100km/h will take an estimated 3 seconds and the top-speed has been limited 225km/h (FIA regulations)

Unlike Formula One, which is spread across a weekend, the Formula E Championship will see practice and qualification sessions followed by the race on one day itself. The first race will take place in Beijing on the 16th of September.
