General Motors Recalls Over 1.5 Lakh Cars in India
Highlights
"The remote keyless entry accessory meets all the relevant regulatory standards; however, GM India has been made aware of some isolated cases where certain Chevrolet Spark, Beat and Enjoy vehicles were fitted with a faulty accessory," the company said in a statement. The company further says that the recall is only for the models fitted with remote keyless entry system manufactured by AutoCop - an auto component maker.
Explaining the reason behind the recall of these vehicles, General Motors said that the defective battery wiring in these cars may cause a short circuit. This, in turn, may lead to a fault in the accessory - thus locking passengers in or out of the car.
The replacement/repairing of the faulty part will be done free of cost at the company's centres, and the customers will directly be contacted by GM.
