Nico Rosberg set the fastest time during the FP1 session of the 2014 British Grand Prix. Predictably, it was the two Mercedes drivers who led the way with Rosberg setting a time of 1:35.424s followed by team-mate Hamilton who was slower by just 0.731s.

The race was halted for 15 minutes following an accident involving the Williams of Felipe Massa. The nightmare for Williams started in the first thirty minutes with Susie Wolff - making her FP1 debut - stopping on track after just four laps with an oil pressure problem. Six minutes later, Massa lost control of his car on the exit kerb at Stowe and hit the tyres on the inside of the track at high speed, heavily damaging the car and bringing out a red flag. Massa ended up in the same wall last year too during the FP2 session.

On the other hand, Ferrari had a strong start with Alonso going third fastest, and was within a second of the two Mercedes. Kimi Raikkonen was fifth - 0.3s off his team-mate - as Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo squeezed himself between the two Ferraris.

Sebastian Vettel was the sixth quickest with Jenson Button, Daniil Kvyat, Jean-Eric Vergne and Kevin Magnussen rounding out the top ten.

The FP2 session will reveal more and we will have all the details for you right here. So stay tuned!
