Nico Rosberg proved statisticians right as he led the Monaco Grand Prix from start to finish. Team-mate Lewis Hamilton had trouble with his vision and was left trying to fend off Daniel Ricciardo but eventually made it to 2nd place.

Rosberg was always in the lead but Hamilton did not give up pace and was only a second apart. However, with less than 20 laps to go, Hamilton suddenly dropped his pace as he complained of dirt in his eye. Ricciardo saw a chance and went after the Mercedes but couldn't get past.

Fernando Alonso was a lonely fourth for Ferrari, over 20 seconds behind Ricciardo and almost a minute clear of fifth-placed Nico Hulkenberg. Jenson Button passed Kevin Magnussen as he was caught up in an incident with Kimi Raikkonen at the hairpin.

Felipe Massa finished in 7th place while Grosjean, Bianchi and Magnussen completed the top 10. This is Rosberg's second consecutive Monaco victory and he takes the lead in the driver's championship with Hamilton in second, Alonso in third and Ricciardo in fourth place.
