F1: Rosberg Rules the Time Charts in FP3 at the Spanish Grand Prix
Highlights
Nico Rosberg was fastest during the final practice session of the Spanish Grand Prix as Mercedes yet again showed their dominance over the sport.
The two Mercedes cars of Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton traded fastest times 1.5s clear of the rest. Both the drivers went out for a spin on the track on hard tyres post which the mediums saw Rosberg set his best lap time of 1:25.887. Hamilton was unable to respond due to a yellow flag (thank Max Chilton for that) and ended his session 0.8s slower than his team mate.
Alonso, in front of his home crowd, couldn't find pace in the earlier two sessions but this time he went third fastest as he set a time of 1:27.188, showing the dominance that Mercedes cars have shown this year. Alonso was just ahead of Williams Felipe Massa, while Romain Grosjean enjoyed an impressive recovery to set the fifth fastest time.
Kevin Magnussen was sixth fastest as Daniel Ricciardo, Jenson Button, Pastor Maldonado and Sebastian Vettel rounding out the top ten.
Kimi Raikkonen struggled to find pace and he was down in 14th place, just ahead of the two Force Indias and Saubers.
It will be an interesting Qualification session today. Will Hamilton and Rosberg lock the grid for Mercedes yet again? Or will we see Fernando Alonso tearing through that gap and putting himself on top in front of his home crowd? We'll get you all the details.
