Highlights

BMW Motorrad has launched the S1000R in India and has priced it at 22.83 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Having seen the bike in Dhoom 3 recently, BMW thinks that there is a market in India for a street-naked motorcycle.

The design of the S1000R is similar to that of the S1000RR, but visually the radiator shrouds that sit in place of the fairing, partly covering the engine, are a bit different in the S1000R. It uses the same engine as well as the RR - the 999cc, in-line, 4-cylinder, liquid/oil-cooled engine that punches out 160bhp. This figure is 33bhp less than the RR.

Weighing in at 207kgs and built on an aluminium frame the S1000R comes with upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. BMW has made the S1000R available in blue, red and white.
