BMW has already showcased their laser headlight technology and we have told you all about it. A similar technology was being worked upon by Audi and now they are all set to be the first to launch a production model with laser lights. Audi has unveiled the Audi R8 LMX.

It is the world's first production car with laser high beams, and features four high power laser diodes which emit white light at a colour temperature of 5,500 Kelvin. The lights are activated at 60 km/h and according to Audi greatly enhance "visibility and safety." The model also has a camera-based sensor system that detects other cars and actively adjusts the light pattern to "exclude them."

But let's not just stick to the laser technology; the R8 LMX gets an Ara Blue exterior and a fixed rear wing. The model also has gloss black tailpipes, carbon fiber ceramic brake discs and exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Audi R8 LMX comes equipped with fine Nappa leather seats, Sepang Blue contrast stitching and Ara Blue accents. Under the hood is the 5.2-litre V10 568bhp and 540Nm torque churning engine.

Connected to a seven speed S tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system helps the coupe take-off from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 320 km/h. Production will be limited to 99 units and the first deliveries will start soon.
