Arvind Saxena to take charge of General Motors India
Highlights
The news is finally out. Arvind Saxena, who joined Volkswagen in 2012 and is currently its MD, is all-set to leave the German company and join General Motors India as the new CEO. The official word from GM India is expected to come by Friday.
Saxena will replace Lowell Paddock, who is heading to Singapore for an assignment. Saxena has seen the automotive industry in India grow for the past 30 years and his experience will come in handy for GM India. Having been with companies like Hyundai and Maruti and worked for the sales and marketing department, he knows very well what sells in India.
We reckon, this might just be the gameplan for GM India; to bring in an Indian CEO, who understands the market well. However, from what we hear, there are other top-level management changes that will be made as well. The Head of Quality and Plant Head (Talegoan) are also to be replaced and from what we know, the successors are not going to be of Indian origin.
GM India needs a big push now and possibly Arvind Saxena is the man to deliver that for them.
