Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, received the Sustainable Development Leadership Award from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). Mr. Mahindra accepted the award from External Affairs Minister, Salman Khurshid on behalf of the Mahindra Group.

The Sustainable Development Leadership Award felicitates global leaders for their contributions to the field of sustainable development. Mahindra was presented with the award in recognition of the dynamic and visionary leadership he has shown in spearheading the Mahindra Group on the path of sustainability and environmental awareness.

The fact that the company has an entire division - Mahindra REVA- dedicated to the electric mobility tells us about the effort the company has put in to make electric cars a reality in India. Having already launched the e2O all-electric car, the company plans to increase its product portfolio by introducing new products in the coming years.

Mahindra had also revealed plans to enter the FIA sponsored Formula-E Championship which starts in September 2014 and the company has displayed the car at the ongoing Delhi Auto Expo.

The award from TERI recognizes all these efforts taken by Mahindra. On receiving the award on behalf of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra said, "With its dynamic and visionary approach, TERI has greatly contributed to the global dialogue on finding solutions to global problems in the fields of energy, environment and sustainable development and I am honoured to accept this award from them on behalf of the Mahindra Group."
