Chinese motorcycle brand Zongshen has unveiled a new 400 cc sport touring motorcycle. Called the Zongshen RG3, the new bike joins the brand's 2021 line-up for the domestic market, and is a full-faired sports tourer with a 400 cc parallel-twin engine. The Zongshen RG3's design certainly is striking, and gets all the equipment associated with a sports tourer, like a tall, adjustable windscreen, comfortable seat for long hours in the saddle, a wide handlebar, and hard panniers, as well as a fairing to slice through wind resistance during long hours out on the highway.

The instrument console is a fancy 6.75-inch full-colour TFT screen, standard ABS, as well as a dashcam mounted just above the headlights on the fairing. The Cyclone RG3 is powered by a 401 cc, parallel-twin engine which makes around 42 bhp at 9,500 rpm and peak torque of 39 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The bike's kerb weight is 213 kg, and gets a 20-litre fuel tank for covering long distances between refills. Wheels are 17-inchers, and braking duties are taken care of by double discs up front and a single rear disc brake with standard Bosch dual-channel ABS. The RG3 has a claimed top speed of 155 kmph.

Zongshen is one of the five largest motorcycle manufacturers in China, with annual production of over 30,00,000 motorcycles. Zongshen has partnerships with Harley-Davidson and Piaggio, and in 2017, the company had signed a 20-year 'licence and build' agreement with the former management of UK's Norton Motorcycles. Under that agreement, Zongshen will produce its own motorcycle models using the Norton 650 cc platform. The Zongshen Cyclone RX6 will be the first model to use the Norton 650 engine, and is nearing production. While Norton went into financial crisis before being rescued by India's TVS Motor Company acquiring the British brand, Zongshen has gone ahead with production of its own range of 650 cc motorcycles using the Norton 650 engine.
