Yezdi Roadster vs Rivals: Price Comparison

The Yezdi Roadster is the most accessible Yezdi priced from Rs. 1.98 lakh, going up to Rs. 2.06 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It's also quite close to the original Yezdi bikes that were sold back in the 1970s and '80s. Unlike the Scrambler and Adventure motorcycles, the Roadster is about sticking to the tarmac and promises a touring-friendly experience as a proper modern-classic mile muncher. And being the most conventional offering from the brand, it competes with a handful of offerings that include the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda H'ness CB350, Jawa Forty-Two and the Benelli Imperiale 400. So how do each of these motorcycles compete with each other in terms of price? Let's take a look

The RE Meteor 350 is priced between Rs. 2.02 lakh and Rs. 2.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Yezdi Roadster vs Royal Enfield Meteor 350

The Yezdi Roadster gets minimal bodywork and comes closest to looking like a conventional cruiser. In this segment, the Roadster's biggest rival is the super popular Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The motorcycle uses a larger displacement 349 cc motor that develops 20.2 bhp at 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. In comparison, the 334 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the Roadster churns out 29.7 bhp at 7,300 rpm and 29 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The Yezdi Roadster has a lighter kerb weight at 184 kg over the Meteor 350 that tips the scales at 191 kg. It will be interesting to see if the Roadster matches up to the Meteor's brilliant riding dynamics.

In terms of pricing, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is currently priced between Rs. 2.02 lakh for the Fireball versions, going up to Rs. 2.18 lakh for the Supernova colours. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

The Honda H'Ness CB 350 is priced between Rs. 1.96 lakh and Rs. 2.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Yezdi Roadster vs Honda H'ness CB350

Another strong rival for the Yezdi Roadster is the Honda H'ness CB350 in the segment. With over 35,000 units sold in the first year itself, the bike has been well received and continues to be a popular choice for buyers looking at a modern-classic design with Honda's famed reliability. The H'ness CB350 draws power from the 348 cc single-cylinder engine tuned for 20.7 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 30 Nm of peak torque at 3,000 rpm. While power output is substantially lower than the Yezdi Roadster, the Honda offering manages to make 1 Nm more in comparison. The H'ness also sticks to a 5-speed gearbox like the Meteor.

Prices on the H'ness CB350 start from Rs. 1.96 lakh, going up to Rs. 2.04 lakh for the recently launched Anniversary Edition. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Do remember, both the Meteor and CB350 get navigation via Bluetooth which the Roadster misses out on.

The Jawa Forty Two range starts at Rs. 1.69 lakh, going up to Rs. 1.91 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Coming to Yezdi's own sibling, the Jawa Forty-Two is cut from the same cloth as the Roadster and both bikes will be sold under the same roof. So, customers will have to choose between the brands and the models themselves. That said, there's plenty that's different on the Forty Two and the Roadster. For starters, the Jawa offering draws power from the much smaller 293 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that develops 27 bhp and 27.02 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The Forty Two is also lighter with a kerb weight of 172 kg.

The lower capacity motor also comes at a more attractive price point of Rs. 1.69 lakh for the single-channel ABS version. However, the more comparable dual-channel ABS model will set you back by Rs. 1.78 lakh. There's also the more expensive and accessory laden Jawa 42 priced at Rs. 1.91 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Do note that the Yezdi Roadster shares its engine with the Jawa Perak and while that is a niche offering, the Roadster can be seen as a more mainstream alternative with the same power unit.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 is available in a single variant and priced at Rs. 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Benelli Imperiale 400 has found its own audience and is quite likeable too. The classic lines are quite pleasing and so is the overall package. It also gets the largest displacement here at 374 cc with the air-cooled, single-cylinder mill churning out 20.7 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 29 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. However, it is also the heaviest offering here at 205 kg (kerb) with the Meteor 350 coming a distant second.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 is priced at Rs. 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and manages to undercut the Yezdi Roadster by a good Rs. 8,000. And that does give it a leeway of being an accessible no-frills modern-classic in the segment.
