Yamaha Motor India has inaugurated its new spare parts centre in Tamil Nadu in a bid to expand its presence and increase availability of spares in the Southern parts of the country. Located at Yamaha India's Chennai facility in a total area of 30,000 sq. mts., the spare parts centre has been made with a cumulative investment of Rs. 580 million. The bike maker has discontinued the Bangalore spares warehouse with the new centre in place, which also has a 5 per cent higher supply ratio over the former.

Yamaha India stated that the company will now maintain optimum spare parts inventory at Surajpur and the new Chennai centre for the North and South markets and would cater to the increasing demands across the country with high quality, lower costs & quicker lead time.

Inaugurating the new parts centre, Mr. Hiroaki Fujita, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India said, "In the present industry scenario, customer satisfaction is the key to sustenance and growth. Timely supply of genuine spare parts to the customers is the key to success. Our main objective behind the establishment of the new Parts Centre is to cater to the demands of the consumers in South India with speed and quality."

Accessibility of spare parts to customers can be a deal maker or breaker for manufacturers with respect to maintenance and servicing woes. Moreover, Yamaha stated that the new spare parts centre will contribute to the bike maker's overall profit by strengthening the business foundation and improve the supply chain management operation.

With the new centre in place, the Yamaha India is aiming to achieve a higher customer satisfaction level, more so, as it forays into tier II and III markets with the new commuter range of products. The Japanese manufacturer currently has 20 spare parts distributors across 15 states and over 3000 spare parts retailers pan India.

On the product front, Yamaha India recently launched the much talked about Ray-ZR scooter and Saluto RX entry-level two-wheelers, while deliveries for the MT-09 sports bike are set to commence next month across the country. For the enthusiasts though, the wait remains for the MT-03 that is likely to be a part of the launch calendar for the current year.
