India Yamaha Motor has upgraded its existing BS III models to BS IV and has introduced the same at slightly revised prices. The new BS IV models also come fitted with the auto-headlamp on (AHO) feature and get slightly refreshed body graphics for 2017 as well. Yamaha's 150 cc models such as the FZ, FZ-S, Fazer and the SZ RR get the BS IV treatment along with the Fascino and the Cygnus Alpha. As far as engines are concerned, all these models retain the same engine with the same specifications as earlier. There is no word from Yamaha on the BS IV model of the FZ-16, which has a 153 cc carburetted engine. The performance bikes in the Yamaha India line-up and the new launches such as the FZ25 were already BS IV compliant.

Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said, "The new motorcycle and scooter variants with extra style and advanced BS IV compliant engine offers more value to the aspirational customers of Yamaha. The new variants get the Auto Headlamp-On (AHO) feature which the government has made mandatory for all two wheelers in India. Yamaha's focus is to keep innovating in order to keep up with the current trends of the market. The launch of new variants for all of Yamaha's scooter and motor cycle models is in line with Yamaha's promise to constantly delight the customers illustrating how the market has responded to Yamaha's products."

With almost all two-wheeler manufacturers introducing BS IV compliant models a month or two ago, Yamaha has been one of the last manufacturers to do so. But as they say, better late than never.
