'World's Fastest Kiwi' Cycles Across Indian Golden Quadrilateral
Highlights
Chittock hails from New Zealand and holds a Bachelors degree in Law and Economics from University of Waikato. He set out on the cycling journey from the New Zealand Embassy in Delhi on February 27 and covered nearly 6,000Km in 24 days. Covering an average distance of 250Km per day, he cycled across Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Kanpur, Pune, Surat, Guntur, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.
Though challenging, Chittock said this journey was a great experience too. He added, "The national highways are okay for cycling. However, the inner and link roads were challenging. I had a close shave at least three times. Once I was almost moved down by a truck and I narrowly escaped."
Chittock, who pedals about 80Km every day, took on this journey after being contacted by Guinness for an attempt at a World Record for cycling the Golden Quadrilateral. Interestingly, he said he does not know yet whether or not he has set a record.
