Audi Q5
Audi recently unveiled the new-gen Q5 crossover-SUV at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and is expected to launch the SUV in India next year. The second generation Q5 is built on the company new MLB-Evo platform, which also underpins the latest Q7, A4 and A5 models, has made the car a 100 kg lighter than the current version. In addition to that Audi has updated the car with a host of design and smart features like a bolder front with LED headlamps, new LED tail lamps, sporty alloys, new cabin with a stick-up touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel, heads-up display, and Audi's virtual cockpit system among more. Under the hood, the SUV will come with a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel motor that comes in three states of tunes. There is also a more powerful 3.0-litre TDI engine for the global markets.
Audi Q2
The newest addition to the Q range, the all-new Audi Q2 will be the smallest and most affordable crossover-SUV from the Ingolstadt-based carmaker. It is already on sale in Europe and will come to India soon. Right from exterior styling to the cabin design and comfort features, Audi has tried to make the Q2 every bit as new as possible. The Q2 will come with both petrol and diesel engines - 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engines along with the 2.0-litre TDI and all-new 1.6-litre TDI diesel engines.
On the insides, the Q2 will be styled similar to the Audi A3 with large circular vents taking up central positions in the cabin. The pop-up central display screen is also similar to the likes of the A3. You also get a flat-bottom steering wheel in almost all variants and sporty seats up front on the higher spec cars.
Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda's first 7-seater, the all-new Kodiaq SUV made its big debut last month in Berlin. The SUV is based on the same MQB platform as the new Volkswagen Tiguan and comes with a new AWD system as well. The SUV marks the transfer of Skoda's new design language into the SUV segment, featuring clean-cut lines, muscular contours, and a brawny stance. The new Skoda SUV comes sporting a three-dimensional radiator grille, narrow headlights, short overhangs, slightly angular wheel arches, and C-shaped LED tail-lamps. It is offered with a choice of 14 paint finishes and three trim levels - Active, Ambition, and Style. Skoda will offer the SUV in both petrol and diesel engine options - a1.4-litre TSI petrol motor and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit.
Volkswagen Tiguan
Another SUV from the German auto giants line to reach the India shores next year will be the new Volkswagen Tiguan. The new Volkswagen Tiguan is based on the carmaker's popular MQB platform and it is 60mm longer and 30mm wider and sits 33mm lower than the older model. The wheelbase too has been increased by 77mm to 2681mm, which means there's more space on the inside. The new Volkswagen Tiguan has also shed some weight as it now weighs 50kg less than before. The SUV will also come with features like 5-inch screen or a bigger 8-inch display (depending on the variant) along with support navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink and many other services. While the car comes in an array of petrol and diesel engine options, in India the SUV will get the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine initially.
Jaguar F-Pace
Jaguar recently revealed the prices of the all-new F-Pace in India and will officially launch the SUV in the country on October 20. Although the company does have the Land Rover brand for its SUVs, the F-Pace is the first SUV to be launched under the Jaguar brand. Apart from that, there is a lot which makes the car worthy of being on this list, and we have spoken about them in our review. The F-Pace takes its cues from the new XF sedan but still comes with all the SUV proportions. Under the hood, this SUV from Jaguar is powered by engines from the carmaker's new Ingenium family. In India, the F-Pace is currently offered with two diesel engines - 2.0-litre motor and a 3.6-litre V6 oil burner, both mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission unit.
Hyundai Elantra
While the Elantra is already on sale in India, it is still a part of the list and we think it is worth mentioning. Hyundai launched the new-gen Elantra in India just last month. Currently, in its sixth generation, the new Hyundai Elantra comes with an all-new exterior profile that takes the premium quotient of the car to the next level. Hyundai has also worked upon the interior of the car that features a new well laid out cabin with a number of smart comfort and convenience features, which we have extensively spoken about in our review. Along with the slightly updated versions of the petrol and diesel engine from the old gen model, Hyundai has introduced an all-new 2.0-litre petrol engine, which is also offered in the India-spec model.
