Volvo has created a new technology that makes it possible to order food and have it delivered directly to your vehicle, no matter your location. Volvo calls it 'Roam Delivery' and the company will showcase the new technology at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The technology uses a smartphone or tablet running Volvo's On Call telematics app. Moreover, you don't even have to be in your car to receive the delivery. The delivery technology includes a digital key element, which allows a one-time access to a locked vehicle.

Volvo envisions its roam delivery services being used by shipping companies like UPS and FedEx. According to Klas Bendrik, Group CIO at Volvo, "Failed first-time deliveries generate significant costs for companies. By turning the car into a pickup and drop-off zone through digital keys, we solved a lot of problems delivering goods to people, not places,"

Volvo has not announced when it might bring the digital key to market but we expect it to come sooner. With this Volvo has certainly outdone Ford's Domino Pizza ordering App and has taken a step ahead in revolutionizing the world of logistics.
