The highly anticipated Volkswagen Virtus has finally been launched in India with ex-showroom prices starting at Rs. 11.22 lakh. The new Volkswagen Virtus is offered in four variants Comfortline, Highline and Topline that is offered with the smaller 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engines, while the 1.5-litre, TSI turbo petrol motor is offered in a single range-topping GT Line trim. The new Volkswagen Virtus rivals the likes of the Skoda Slavia, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and the Hyundai Verna, and here is how it fares against the competition in terms of pricing.

The base variant of the Volkswagen Virtus 1.0 TSI is the most expensive model in this comparison being Rs. 23,000 more expensive than the base trim of the Skoda Slavia. That said, the range-topping trim undercuts the top-end variant of the Skoda Slavia by Rs. 7000, while it is Rs. 1.36 lakh more expensive than the Hyundai Verna 1.0 GDI turbo which is offered in a single fully loaded variant.

Volkswagen is offering the Virtus 1.5 TSI in a single range-topping GT Line variant that undercuts the top-end variant of the Skoda Slavia by Rs. 48,000. That said, the 1.5 TSI is quite more expensive than the naturally aspirated 1.5 models. It is Rs. 5.93 lakh more expensive than the top-end Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Rs. 2.7 lakh more expensive than the top-end Honda City and Rs. 3.6 lakh costlier than the top-of-the-line Hyundai Verna. However, the Honda City e:HEV Hybrid sedan is the most expensive model of the lot here and the Volkswagen Virtus undercuts it by Rs. 1.59 lakh.
