Volkswagen generates about 10 per cent of its overall sales from the USA in the R-SUV & pick-up segments and wants to expand its presence in one of the most significant global growth markets. The new company will also play a key role in this transition as it aligns with the Group's model for small units that act agilely and have access to tech platforms to leverage synergies. Made famous by truck and tractor maker International Harvester in the 1960s and 1970s, the Scout moniker will return to the US market after a long hiatus.
