The Volkswagen Tiguan facelift was unveiled in global markets last year and it is expected to go on sale in India later this year. The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan gets a new front bumper with sharper detailing and bolder side curtains and the radiator griller sports brand's new illuminated light line flanking the VW badge. It is powered by the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TSI engine that belts out 181 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed DSG transmission and the 4motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) is optional globally. Here are its top 5 rivals.
Jeep Compass
The facelifted Compass now gets an updated design, new styling elements and new features and is offered in four trims - Sport, Longitude (O), Limited (O) and Model 'S' that are further classified in a total of 11 variants. The 2021 Jeep Compass continues with the same powertrain options- a 1.4-litre Multi-air petrol engine and a 2.0-litre Multi-jet diesel unit. While the former is good for 160 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque, the latter churns out 170 bhp and 350 of power figures. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox, an optional 9-speed torque converter and a 7-speed DCT automatic, respectively. Jeep also offers 4x4 tech on select variants with an automatic gearbox.

Hyundai Tucson
The Hyundai Tucson facelift was launched in India last year in July. It is positioned above the Creta in the company's line-up and comes with comprehensive upgrades including styling tweaks, revised powertrain and new transmission options. Powertrain options on the Hyundai Tucson facelift include the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The BS6 petrol motor produces 150 bhp and 192 Nm of torque, while the BS6 diesel engine belts out 182 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The petrol motor is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel uses a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The top diesel variant of the Tucson comes with four-wheel drive as standard, while the lower variants send power to the front wheels. Hyundai is not offering a manual transmission on the Tucson.
Citroen C5 Aircross
The 2021 Citroen C5 Aircross is the first product to be launched by the French carmaker in the country, marking the brand's entry into the Indian car market. The SUV comes to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit and it is locally assembled at the Citroen India's plant in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The Citroen C5 Aircross comes with a single powertrain option, which is the 2.0-litre diesel engine. It's tuned to develop 175 bhp of maximum power against the peak torque of 400 Nm. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels.
Tata Harrier
The Tata Harrier was launched in India in 2018 and then received a comprehensive update in 2020. The Tata Harrier is offered in 9 variants - XE, XM, XMA, XT, XT+, XZ, XZ+, XZA, XZA+. It is a diesel-only model, which is powered by the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, multijet diesel. The engine churns out 138 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque.
MG Hector
MG Motor introduced the updated version of the Hector earlier this year. The five-seater SUV is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol motor is a 1.5-litre petrol unit while diesel variants are powered by the same fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine.
