Volkswagen Releases New Images of the Dune Concept
Highlights
We couldn't really believe our eyes when we first saw the concept at the 2013 Detroit Motorshow. Yes, we are talking about the Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept. From what we could make out, we think this one-off for an off-roading version of the Beetle is unheard of.
But now it is back into the spotlight as Volkswagen has released new images of the car and also hints at the fact that this concept could see the light of production, for everything about it is feasible. If it does make it to the assembly line, it will be the sportiest Beetle ever.
The Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept is powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 210bhp. That said, we are sure that the production version might not put out the same amount of power.
The engine comes mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission which powers the front wheel. All the power generated takes the Dune concept from 0-100Km/h in just 7.3 seconds and tops out at 227Km/h. We will definitely hear more about the development of this concept from the people at Volkswagen in the following months, and we will be sure to keep you posted.
