Volkswagen India Partners With Orix; Introduces Subscription Model

Volkswagen India announced signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Orix to offer subscription-based car ownership model for Indian customers. VW will launch its subscription-based ownership option at 30 outlets across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad in the first phase. Customers, who opt for subscription, will get their cars with a regular 'white' number plate. Rentals start from Rs. 16,500 for Polo, Rs. 27,000 for Vento and Rs. 59,000 for T-Roc, with a tenure flexibility ranging from 24, 36 or 48 months. The monthly rentals will include financing, maintenance and insurance. The operations will be supported by ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Ltd or OAIS.

Commenting on the announcement, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, "Car subscription is gaining popularity, especially amongst the urban young middle class, looking for a convenient ownership experience. Catering to the needs of this customer segment, we are pleased to extend our partnership with ORIX, and enhance our leasing and subscription platform, that will focus on providing accessibility and a peace of mind ownership experience to our prospective customers."

Volkswagen India increased the prices of the Polo and Vento models in India from September 2021. Both models the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan will become dearer by up to 3 per cent and 2 per cent respectively, across the range, depending on the variant. Having said that, Volkswagen India confirmed that the price hike will not be applicable on the GT variant of the Polo. The revised prices came into effect from September 1, 2021.
