Highlights

  • Both Polo Select and Vento Celeste are offered with the Highline variant
  • The special edition models come with new exterior styling and features
  • Mechanically the cars remain unchanged offering the same engine options
Volkswagen India has added two new special edition models to its line-up - the Polo Select and Vento Celeste. Both the cars now come with a range of new cosmetic upgrades and feature and will be available in limited numbers across Volkswagen dealerships in India. Both the special edition kits will be available only with the top-of-the-line Highline variant of respective models. Although the company did not mention the prices of these special edition models, Volkswagen India claims the customers can avail of these new features by upgrading to the Polo Select and Vento Celeste at an attractive cost. Prices will vary from state to state but we believe it will be around Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 over the asking price of the Highline variant of each model.

This is not the first time that a carmaker has launched special edition models to increase sales. In fact now it is quite common for manufacturers to introduce a slightly stylised version of a fairly performing model slapped with a special or a limited edition tag and few extra features to attract more customers. And as it appears, Volkswagen India is no exception these practices either. In fact considering both the cars are based on the same design platform, the styling and features list of both the Polo Select and Vento Celeste is also extensively similar.

Vento Celeste

The Vento Celeste Kit Comes With the Top-Spec Highline Variant

The new Volkswagen Polo Select and Vento Celeste come with smart exterior styling that includes - blackened roof foil, carbon finish ORVM covers, and body side moulding in black. Moreover to further increase the style quotient of the cars Volkswagen even offers trunk garnish on the Polo Select and a trunk lip spoiler on the Vento Celeste.

Similarly the inside of the cars have also been upgraded with new high-quality, scratch-resistant dashboards accentuated by a premium, carbon finish centre console. The Polo Select offers all the features that you'll find in the regular Highline variant, but in addition to that the car gets 4 new scuff plates along with seat covers featuring Volkswagen logo. The Vento Celeste on the other hand gets a new touchscreen infotainment system with Blaupunkt radio with navigation and multi-functional steering wheel with control for audio and Bluetooth. In addition to all these, both the Polo Select and Vento Celeste also come with detachable window blinds and new textile mats.

Mechanically there are no changes made to either of the cars. Both the Polo and Vento continue to be powered by the same petrol and diesel engines. The Polo Select gets the same 74bhp 1.2-litre MPI motor and an 89bhp 1.5-liter oil burner mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. On the other hand the Vento Celeste gets the same option of 1.6-litre and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with power outputs of 104 bhp and 103 bhp respectively along with a 1.5-litre TDI that is good for 103 bhp. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox along with Volkswagen's popular 7-speed DSG unit.
