Updated Tata Harrier Spied Testing, Likely To Get New Touchscreen
Highlights
- Updated Harrier expected to pack in more tech
- Covered dash-top suggests that it could get a new larger touchscreen
- Testmule suggested minimal cosmetic changes to the rear and sides
A test mule of the Tata Harrier was recently spied on the road in India. The images showed the car from the rear while also providing a brief glimpse of the interior as well. The Harrier was launched in India in 2019 before receiving an update in 2020 that brought with it the option of an automatic gearbox along with increased power from the 2.0-litre diesel engine.

The latest update being readied by Tata seems to include upgraded tech on board with the images of the test car showing little by way of cosmetic updates. The most notable change visible is on the inside where the entire free-standing central touchscreen is covered suggesting that Tata is working on a new touchscreen for its mid-size SUV. While details are scarce, the new unit is expected to be larger than the current 8.8-inch unit likely in a bid to keep the SUV on par with other mid-size SUVs which have packed in larger touchscreens. The wing mirror also seems to house an integrated camera suggesting that a 360-degree camera could also be part of the package.

The Harrier should also be due for a facelift in the coming years with the car now has been in the market for a little over 4 years. While the tweaks to the test mule suggest an updated model is in the works, Tata could roll out the new updates as part of a mid-lifecycle facelift for its SUV.
Coming to the engines, the 2.0-litre diesel is set to be carried forward while reports suggest that the updated SUV could also see the introduction of a new turbo-petrol engine option.

In terms of cosmetic changes, there isn't much difference to the current model on the outside.
With the Safari being the Harrier’s sister model its safe to expect the new round of updates to also make its way to the larger three-row SUV following its introduction in the Harrier.
