The new model year Polestar 2 has been unveiled in the global markets and comes with a quite a few updates along with nip and tuck in its styling. The improvements include some visual tweaks along with additional tech and a larger range at a single charge. However, the most significant of them all remains the slightly enhanced drive range and boost in the power output. Volvo's updated Polestar 2 that comes with a single electric motor features a larger battery pack of 69 kWh. The range has gone up from 440 Km to 474 km on a single charge as tested according to Europe's WLTP cycle, while the EPA-certified numbers are not available yet.
Another upgrade with the battery update and a software update comes in the form of faster charging, now with speeds of up to 130 kW. The electric motor's power output has also gone up 221 bhp to 225 bhp and the production of the Polestar 2 will now be greener thanks to the integration of an aluminium battery casing made from smelters that use renewable energy. The company has also started a pilot project for replacing the aluminium used for the wheels and it is likely to save around 1,350 kg of CO2 per car.
In terms of looks, the Polestar 2 now comes with a new standard, no-cost colour - Magnesium, while two new optional colours are added as well - Space that replaces Void, and Jupiter replacing Moon. Both 19-inch standard aero wheels and the optional 20-inchers too have received a refreshed design. It is also equipped with an optimized heat pump which now works best between -7 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.
