Upcoming Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Spotted On Track
Highlights
- The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak will be a road-focussed version
- Smaller 17-inch front wheel, single-sided swingarm, different suspension
- New Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Edition to be unveiled in a few months
Latest spy shots reveal that Ducati may have gone ahead in development of a new top-of-the-line, road-focussed Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak edition. While motorcycles will no longer be allowed to compete at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event in the US, the tradition of Ducati introducing a 'Pikes Peak' edition is likely to continue with the latest Multistrada V4. The most apparent change between the Pikes Peak variant and the standard Multistrada V4 is the 17-inch front wheel and single-sided swingarm.

Ducati had offered a similar Pikes Peak variant of the previous Multistrada 1200 and the Multistrada 1260, and the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak edition will also be positioned similarly, making it a sportier variant of the Multistrada. Apart from the 17-inch front wheel, the bike also doesn't get the Skyhook suspension more suited for off-road adventures. Previous generation Pikes Peak variants featured Ohlins suspension and forged aluminium wheels from Marchesini, and the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is also expected to get similar equipment. What is also expected are radially mounted brake calipers like that from the Ducati Streetfighter V4.

The Ducati Multistrada has quite a history at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. In 2012, the late Carlin Dunne took top spot in the 1205 Division, aboard a Ducati Multistrada 1200. Six years later, Dunne once again piloted a Multistrada 1260 to win the heavyweight class. However, 2019 resulted in tragedy with Dunne's untimely death at Pikes Peak, which resulted in suspension of the motorcycle classes at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Despite excluding bikes from the event, Ducati will continue with a special production variant named after the famed "Race to the Clouds" event.
